This is one of my favorite Bill Monroe tunes - -I was surprised at how rusty I was on it then realized I probably have not played for nearly a year! That's sad. But I had the camera out today. This is a song that Mr. Monroe played a lot in his later years -- it is one of the thousands of songs that he "...just pick out of the air" as he would say. Played on an Gibson F-5 Fern
I heard this beautiful tune this morning and had to try to learn it -- I messed up the third part a bit. Lori Watson does a great job with it.
Played on a 2002 Gibson F-5 mandolin
This is a French-Canadian fiddle tune that I picked up off the "Bluegrass Hoedown" CD by Williams and Bray (www.VoyagerRecords. com). Highly recommended. It is an easy song to play and in the typical A-B format. The third time through I tried to get a little fiddle shuffle sound out of the mandolin -- its hard! Smile.
Mandolin Fiddle tune
This is my version of a tune written by the 1999 National Senior Fiddle Champion, Vivian Williams -- I picked up off her " CD "Winter Moon" (www.VoyagerRecords. com). Some great songs on there. It is a pretty easy song to play while still being pretty exciting to listen to -- maybe it would sound great bluegrass as a song too? The mandolin is a 2002 Gibson F-5 Fern.
