This video was shot durring a performance or "Spectac" (as they say there) of many the different up and comming djembe and drum groups in Conakry, Guinea . This group features students of the infamous drummer Boka who was out of the country at the time.
This video was shot at a celebration and baby naming ceremony
deep in the heart of Bamako (Sabaliboogo district). Interestingly similar to the Mali marriage ceremonies with Griot singers and drum and dance friendly competition. Siaka's drum troupe are the main performance and young Kaliefa plays the lead in this clip. The dance party is for one of the dancers who recently had a baby.

"Young Guns" #2 recording session. Some of Bamako , Mali's finest young musicians perform live djembe music. This piece is "Danza" (Mali) also known as Diansa in Guinee. This group is led by Siaka Doumbia on lead with Sekou on 2nd djembe , "MC" on konkoni and Morike on dunun.

The Bobo peple have lived in western Burkina Faso and Mali for centuries. They are known for their masks which are worn with elaborate outfits for celebrations. Primarily agricultral people they also cultivate cotton which they use to trade with others.
