Alain Gautier and Mich. desjoyeaux frolicking in Biscay prior to 1999 TJV. They capsized shortly after the start. There is nothing in offshore sailing that comes close to these boats. Too 'hairy' for most.
The first song is 'street symphony' by Monica... the second is of course by Tears for Fears.
The early days of Sailrocket from the model trials to the build to sailing at Weymouth Speed Week in 2004 where we first hit 31 knots. We are now trialling with the solid wing sail.
Great toys being well sailed. We filmed this during the layday of the 2007 Moth UK championships in Weymouth. This is just a bunch of the boys out having fun for the camera.
The last voyage of Team Philips heading for the start of 'The Race'. We were riding a 'low' anti-clockwise around Britain in December 2000. This footage is taken heading up the North sea. Top speed down the other side was 36 knots. The boat was sadly abandoned a few days later.
Playstation belting out the Needles as wind builds near 50 knots in a soon to be aborted cross channel record attempt(2002?). The next day they broke the Round Isle of Wight record instead. Tornado driver Roland Gaebler helming... or in this case just hanging on to its tails!!! Sit down, shut up...and hold on! You gotta love those big bows.
