BR Class 33 diesel number 33109 Captain Bill Smith RNR departs Bury Bolton Street on the East Lancashire Railway, bound for Rawtenstall. Class 47 diesel number 47402 Gateshead brings up the rear.
Filmed on Sunday 16th March, during the 2008 Spring Diesel Gala.
47402 was only used on a couple of tuns on the Friday of the gala. This is the first run out to Heywood (the 12.15) 47402 runs onto the stock at Bury then gives a great performance out over the ski jump to Heywood
This video runs from Bury up to Ramsbottom, where I jumped off to get the 24 back into Bury. Nice clag effects and decent sound thanks to the video camera.
Having spent the night riding up and down the line on the nightrider service, 50015 decided enough was enough and failed at Ramsbottom on the last nighrider trip. Cue 47402 to the rescue!!
The 47 is seen shunting the 50 at Ramsbottom.
In a bit of bad editing part 3 is from Heywood to Bury before the next section recorded as part 2! The loco runs round at Heywood and returns down the line. Scuse the bad camerawork, I am still getting used to this videocam
