This day in June we saw hundreds of them---not sure why and it is not common to see so many. We also saw a pod of kiler whales attacking another Finback and its calf right next to our boat for about 15 minutes

Signalman Second Class Hubert Ward served aboard the submarine Finback in the Pacific. Upon orders to rescue downed pilots, the Finback saved a young pilot who was nearly captured by the Japanese. Little did the crew of the Finback know just how important their rescue would be.

Part of the largest population of whales seen in Cape Cod Bay for many years. Whale watch trips are seeing humpbacks, finbacks and once in a while a very rare right whale.
