Englaborn is Jóhann's first solo album. It is derived from music he wrote for an Icelandic play of the same name. For the cd release on Touch, the music was revised and restructured to make it stand as a work on its own and not simply function as a collection of cues. The music is written for string quartet, piano, organ, glockenspiel and percussion.

29/06/08 MAX RICHTER & JOHANN JOHHANNSON @ UNION CHAPEL
Icelandic composer Johann Johannson (4AD/Touch) brought his stately, slow-building and hauntingly melodic music to the Union Chapel for a rare live performance. He played music from his albums Englabörn and IBM 1401, a User's Manual, as well as new music from his forthcoming album which will be out in the autumn.
