Colorado's Silverton Mountain is the USA's answer to Whistler. This promotional video from the resort highlights the upcoming (and short!) Silverton MTB season, which is only from June 30 to July 4. The mountain has been set up as a temporary playground for double-black riders.

Silverton is a "pure ski mountain" where the focus is exclusively on skiing and riding. It's owned by a couple and has only steep and expert terrain and usually plenty of powder. This is a great place for the hard core skier that not everyone knows about, a great place for backcountry skiing. The co-owner Jen Brill talks about the mountain and how it's different from all the resorts.
