I found this 54 Studebaker in a driveway in Martinez CA. in 1999. This is the same car shown later in "My dad's old Studebaker", which, by the way, isn't really his dad's old car. His dad's car went to a close friend of mine.

A quick clip showing a bit of original Avanti promotional material from Studebaker and others. I bought my first Avanti in 1968, my second in 1982, and my last in 1994. Loved them all!

Clearly not the first muscle cars on the Market, these 1964 Studebaker cars were screamers. This was the second year that Studebaker offered Avanti 289 Engines in all of their models. Like the 57 Golden Hawks and 63 Avantis, these cars were fast. David E. Davis's of Car & Drivers magazine, prediction of Studebaker cars of the future seems a bit off.

Hawks were eventually available as Power Hawk, Silver Hawk, and the top of the line Golden Hawk. Based on the styling of Raymond Lowe in 1963, these cars added pieces to update the car, so fins were added...this is an example.

All it needed was the fuel tank flushed out, carb rebuilt, and a good cleaning. There's a 1958 Packard hardtop waiting in the barn.
