"Mull of Kintyre" by Paul McCartney. I borrowed ten NXTs and synchronized them to imitate the bagpipes on the original song. The synchronizer is made out of two lamps and six light sensors.
"If it wasn't forthe nights" by Ulvaeus & Anderson played on a Technics C600 organ. Outside the picture is a Yamaha PSS-12 keyboard. Automatic rhytm, arpeggiator and bass.
I modified the right arm on my Alpha Rex robot and fitted it with a set of sleigh-bells. Then it could play the rhytm for this christmas medley. The songs used are: "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" by Johnny Marks, "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus" by Tommy Connor, and "Winter Wonderland" by Felix Bernard.
Oxygen XIII by J.M.Jarre played on Yamaha HE8. Rhytm by Roland CR68, and the organ is also MIDI controlling a Roland JX8P synthesizer not visible in the picture.
"Unknown Flight" by Michel Elmosnino originally performed by Milkways. The Roland D-20 plays some of the arrangement via the build-in sequencer. It is also controlling the Korg Poly-800. I'm manually adding some notes from the Roland SH-2000, some chords from the Technics organ and some "swiiiooosshh" effects from the Roland JX-8P.
"Calypso part 1" by J.M.Jarre played on ELKA X-1000 organ. Everything except rhytm is played real-time. This version is somewhat simplyfied compared to the original. But the good part is that I can play it on any organ available (I concidered playing it on the small ELKA EP-8 but the sound of the X-1000 was better suited for this melody).
"Like a Virgin" by Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg. Everything is played on the Technics organ but in four layers using a multitrack tape recorder - a Fostex model 80 with matching model 450 mixer.
"Magnetic Fields part V" by J.M.Jarre played on Elka X-1000 organ. Automatic rhytm, bass and arpeggiator. The rhytm starts automatically when the keys on the lower manual is pressed and stops when no keys is touched.
The old French techno-disco classic "Galactic Reaction" by "Milkways" played on an Elka X-1000 organ. I only play the lead and the strings live. The rest is programmed on the build-in sequenser.
"Don't you want me", by Philip Oakey,Jo Callis, and Philip Adrian Wright. I found out that the 16-beat setting on the Hohner organs rhytm section was perfect for this song. So I moved the well known bass theme to the pedal section and found a suitable voice for the melody.
Some might find this funny, others might find it cheesy, and some might even say that it is total crap....
Whatever it is the music is from "My fair lady" and written by Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe. I just bought this - broken - organ and after repairing it I tried out the automatic bass and arpeggios with these songs.
