On Thursday, October 18, 2007 Wyclef Jean introduced his latest album, "Carnival Vol 2 - Memoirs of an Immigrant", at a press-only ceremony at New York City's SOBs night club. During the ceremony, he was presented a genuine dimplamtic passport by Haitian ambassador Raymond Joseph. Noteable people present at the ceremony included music entreprenuer Russel Simmons.

Vwadezil appears poised to do it again! Their song for Kanaval 2008 is out and hitting the airwaves. True to Vwadezil style, their song " Ki Kote'w Ta Ye" (Where Would You Be), comments on Haitian sociopolitical realities, and is full of word play and innuendo.

The weather was nice, and Haitians were out in force for Sunday's Haitian Flag Day celebrations in Irvington , New Jersey. This is one of the many celebrations to take place in Haitian communities everywhere, to celebrate Haitian Flag Day, which is officially on May 18th.

Come see the sites and sounds of Haiti's Kanaval (Carnival) 2008, the best attended Haitian carnival in recent history. Watch T-Vice, Ram, Brothers Posse, and others pass by on their gigantic floats, and watch the "defile" (parade).
We chased down Carimi as they closed down the parade on Eastern Parkway. They were the last major Haitian float to pass by, and was the only Haitian float to make it all the way to Grand Army Plaze. They were accompanied by Boujou of Djakout Misik and Wyclef Jean.

Creole Hip-Hop continues to rise thanks to events like the one which took place at the Denim Lounge in Brooklyn, New York on July 14th, 2007. Perfomers included New York area creole rappers susc as Benchoummy, Neg Maron, Les Enrages, among others. And all the way from Southern Florida the house was rocking thanks to Dr. Zoe.

Come view the sights of Kanaval 2007. Dubbed Solèy Leve (Sunrise), Kanaval 2007 was by far the best-attended carnival in recent years. People from all over the country, as well as Diaspora and visitors from all over the world attended.
