pat revisits his 70's repertoire, "lone jack" from the first pm group ecm record. cool dotted notes in the bridge. featuring a killer solo from sanchez
from the "I can see your house from here" tour, 1994. for this project they brought in steve swallow, who had been both pat's and john's mentor. just before pat retired the es175, and maybe around the time he got into those shirts ;-)
jaco & toots, & the word of mouth big band. goosebumps. and btw: 2 musicians "known on a first name basis with all music fans of all varieties everywhere in the world" (in the words of mr. metheny)
herbie & his men playing "toys" some 35 years after the original recording on "speak like a child". well how's it gonna sound in maybe 2040 herbie? looking forward!
I found a way to include brian blade's solo so here it is again...
pat & blade on stage together. this one's "the deserving many". also check out the version from the sick live cd with joshua redman 4 incl brad mehldau from 1994
this song makes me so happy everytime. and they're all here...bob mintzer! randy brecker! toots! othello molineaux! peter erskine! don alias! btw othello´s son jivin lives here in copenhagen & plays great electric bass
3 young cats making history! unfortunately there's not a lot of charlie in the mix. but there's a tambourine on the piano! oh oh when will he bash that thing? shortly after this clip stops keith grabs the soprano too. 1970
frankie dunlop is smoking on this one. and monk does his crazy dance! hilarious. and btw there's a rumour that butch warren is maybe on his way back into music
"eyes of love", montreux 1992, some 20 years after they did the score for "the getaway" together. just a bit schmaltzy maybe, but at least it's not the cosby theme, and as always toots can make a stone cry, or smile, or both
some great WR, just out of the very early miles-without-miles period. alphonse mouzon is a bad funky cat, dom um romao gets pretty enthusiastic, miroslav vitous changes from upright to a sonic blue fender p in the middle of the song, and the room is cluttered with stuff. just great!
"you´ve got it bad girl", the stevie song from 1972. this was a tune from the "the new standard" group's touring repertory, around 1997.
had to cut the drum solo due to the 100mb limit sorry
