Simroid is a dental patient robot developed as a training tool for aspiring dentists. She can follow spoken instructions, closely monitor a dentist's performance during mock treatments, and react in a human-like way to pain. She was built by Kokoro Company Ltd.

This prototype of the Halluc II, a robotic vehicle under development at the Chiba Institute of Technology, has eight wheels and legs and is able to drive or walk over rugged terrain. The researchers hope to put the robot into practical use within the next five years.
When threatened, this type of Tremoctopus, or blanket octopus (murasakidako in Japanese), unfurls a giant sheet of webbing that trails behind like a cape. The cape easily breaks apart when attacked ? much like a lizard's tail ? and it gets wrapped around the predator's face, allowing the octopus to flee.
